DSL Forum European CPE Logo Program

Updated: September 2005

The DSL Forum's European CPE Logo Program is now underway. The DSL Forum proposed logo (Community Trade Mark) has passed the CTM search routines (seeking for existing or filed marks with which we might have conflicts) and can begin using the Mark - under the regulations and guidelines established by the DSL Forum.

Those guidelines are shown CTM DSL Forum license agreement. Permission for a CPE vendor to use the DSLF CPE CTM (on product, packaging and literature) can be granted by an Accredited, DSLF-recognised ITL for specific products that pass the testing standards established in DSLF TRs.

As shown on the following pages, the DSLF CTM must be accompanied by the ™ symbol - until the ITLs are formally notified that EU CTM Registration has been granted. The expected date for formal EU CTM Registration grant is October 25, 2005. Only upon that notification will the DSLF CTM be accompanied by the ® symbol.

The DSLF web site (list of recognized ITLs) will be changed to highlight the formally Accredited Labs. ITL's seeking Accreditation should use an ILAC-recognised Accreditation Body. The ITL will need to send a copy of their Accreditation schedule to the DSLF Secretariat. Once that Accreditation has been accepted by the DSLF, the Secretariat will provide a CD with specifications and artwork for the DSFL CTM and that ITL can then begin to grant permission for use of the DSLF CTM. Those ITLs will then notify the Secretariat when a specific product(s) has successfully passed interoperability testing against the appropriate standard(s). NOTE: The DSLF CTM can only be used by members-in-good-standing of the DSL Forum. Even if CPE manufactured by a Non-Member passes the standards, that vendor can not use the DSLF CTM.

All ITLs are strongly encouraged to gain Accreditation, and all DSL Forum member CPE manufacturers should use those ITLs for product testing. CPE manufacturers whose equipment meets DSLF TR standards (as verified by an Accredited, DSLF-recognized IITL) should take full advantage of the DSLF CTM as a means to increase awareness of the DSL Forum, to increase ³retail² acceptance of their CPE gear, and to increase subscription rates for DSL.
